James M. Hunt, AIA, NCARB, is a practicing architect and facility management professional with over 40 years of experience. He is a registered Architect, holds a certificate from the National Council of Architecture Registration, and began his career practicing architecture for several major healthcare projects. He then served as director of facilities management for the Menninger Clinic for 20 years. He regularly publishes articles and speaks at major conferences. He is the coauthor of “The Design Guide for the Built Environment of Behavioral Health Facilities” that is published electronically on the website of the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (www.naphs.org).
Jim is now the president of Behavioral Health Facility Consulting, LLC, an organization that has assisted psychiatric hospitals and behavioral health facilities in 24 states and Canada with improving patient and staff safety. He consults with hospitals and architects on the design of new construction and remodeling projects.
